CSC Attorney Brian J. Prain Named "Nation's Top One Percent" by NADC 2021

It is with great honor that we announce that Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct Attorney Brian J. Prain of Prain Law, PLLC was recently selected as one of the "Nations Top One Percent" of Attorneys for 2021 by The National Association of Distinguished Counsel (NACD). While there are many such associations established to honor leaders in the practice of law, The National Association of Distinguished Counsel is one of the most highly regarded, and as its name suggests, only the "Nation's top Attorneys" qualify to make the cut as a "Top One Percent" Attorney.

Brian's selection was announced in February, 2021, and it is one of a growing list of many awards and honors Brian continues to receive for his work in aggressively defending those wrongly accused of Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) charges and other Sex Crimes. Brian maintains that although real sexual assaults are horrible crimes, there is also an epidemic of false allegations of Sexual Assault on the rise.

Brian's tireless work and compassionate dedication to the cause of giving those accused of these horrible Sex Crimes their lives and futures back has resulted in many jury verdicts of NOT GUILTY of Criminal Sexual Conduct, a feat which many Criminal Defense Attorneys (incorrectly) feel is a near impossibility in today's world, where we are bombarded with stories like Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct charges represent some of the most serious criminal charges a person can face - the most serious, Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree, MCL 750.520b, is punishable by LIFE in Prison and permanent public Sex Offender Registration under SORA. The "mid-level" charges (Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, MCL 750.520c and Third Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, MCL 750.520d) are punishable by up to 15 years. Even the "lowest" of the different Degrees of Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct, Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, MCL 750.520e, is punishable by up to 2 years.

The National Association of Distinguished Counsel employs a rigorous four-stage nomination/selection process, including:

  • 1) initial Attorney identification and nomination;
  • 2) a lengthy vetting process by NADC researchers that delves deep into case results, trial experience, client reviews, peer reviews, education, training, awards and accomplishments;
  • 3) a review of the NADC researchers' findings by a panel of blue-ribbon Attorneys to ensure that those who make it this far possess the "background, accomplishments, and prowess to serve as an example to other attorneys"; and
  • 4) a final review by the Judicial Review Board, a panel of former Judges, who, as stated on the NACD website, make certain that the chosen Attorneys "have epitomized the ideals of the legal profession," have a "stellar reputation and exceptional performance," "exemplify only the highest standards," and have "demonstrated admirable character and virtue in the course of their practice of law."

Being named as a National Association of Distinguished Counsel Nations Top One Percent Attorney is a high honor. Brian has also been named one of the Best Criminal Defense Attorneys in Detroit by Expertise.com, a D Business Top Lawyer, one of the Top 10 Criminal Defense Attorneys in Michigan by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys, one of the Top 100 Michigan Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers, Elite Lawyer for Sex Crimes, featured in HOUR Detroit and Super Lawyers Magazine, and more.
